What does 'check shelf' mean on the library catalogue?

Answer

When you look up a book on the library catalogue and its status is Check Shelf, then the book should be on the shelf, on the floor shown (e.g. Q+3 is the third floor).  The books are organised in order of the Call Number so follow the number guides at the ends of the shelf to find the range that covers the number you want.

If the book is not there, check the Reshelving area too.  This is the area near the desk on the floor where books are brought for reshelving after they have been returned.
