What is Special Collections?

Answer

Special Collections contains unique, valuable material:

  • books pre-1850, books from presses, 18th - 20th century newspapers, maps, pamphlets or material in other forms such as microfilm
  • collections donated by individuals (e.g. Frank O’Connor’s personal library) or related to organisations (St Fin Barre’s Cathedral Library)
  • theses and manuscripts.

Special Collections is on Q-1 in the Boole Library.

You can consult material here but cannot borrow it.  Most material must be requested in advance.
