Why can't I use a pen to take notes in Special Collections? I'm not going to mark the books.
Answer
Material in Special Collection can be rare or valuable. Despite good intentions, pens can slip, and it's hard (in some cases, impossible) to erase ink marks.
Pencil is much safer and we'll supply one if needed.
You can bring in laptops and tablets as well and there’s Wi-Fi in Special Collections.
