What is a database?

Answer

A library database is an online, searchable collection of scholarly information. It mainly contains journal articles, but may also have chapters, book reviews, reports and conference papers.

Databases can be:

  • multidisciplinary - covering a broad range of subjects;
  • subject specific - covering one main subject in depth.
