Where and what is the Green Wall?
Answer
The Green or Living Wall is located in the Quadrangle Reading Room (Fishbowl) on the ground floor of the Boole Library.
It is a vertical wall of live plants and was installed in June of 2018. It improves air quality in the room (which is open 24 hours around study week and exam time) and makes it a more positive space to work in.
The plants were all replaced in 2023 to refresh the wall.
The living wall is part of the Library’s ongoing sustainability efforts and was paid for from savings made by the library as part of the "Saver saves" scheme, run by the Buildings & Estates office in UCC.
