I have lost a library book, what do I do?

Answer

  • You are responsible for books you borrow from the library.
  • If you have borrowed a book but are unable to find it, we can renew the book to give you time to look for it.  Contact the Library Services Desk.
  • If you are sure it is lost, you will have to pay to replace the book.  Ask staff at the Library Services Desk, who will get the replacement cost for you (the €60 replacement charge that appears on the library account when the book is overdue is an average cost).  This may take up to two working days.  Staff will update your library account with the cost and you can pay at the Library Services desk or over the phone.
  • TIP: Make sure you check the shelf in the library in case you left the book in the library without returning it through the Returns Unit.
  • Check with other students on your course if you were studying together.
